Seeing as today is Thanksgiving here in the USA, I thought a Thankful post was appropriate. I don't expect a lot of responses, seeing as it's a holiday, and (hopefully) most of you are off or hosting friends and family. Still, I'd like to take a little time out and think what there is to be Thankful for during a time of great economic crisis in our country. Many of us are now unemployed or nearly so. The numbers of the working poor have greatly increased. We've seen hardship up close, lost friends and loved ones, homes, jobs...yes, so much has gone terribly wrong this year, for us, as a nation, and personally too. Sometimes, it's difficult to find 'good' through the tears. Yet, there is much to be Thankful for. As a nation, we are still standing, and the hard times are making us stronger. This generation is re-learning the worth of a dollar, andthat there is no shame in any honest job. Personally, I'm grateful that I still have a job, be it as it may. That I'm healthy and strong. That my daughter was able to stay in college and will soon finish her education to become a teacher, and that this year she'll be home with me for this holiday. I'm also grateful for the food I'm preparing - the turkey in the oven, the pie that's cooling, and all that stuff. That I was able to help put food on another's table today as well. I know too well, that many are looking at nothing, and will go hungry again today. I'm also grateful for my internet friends, and pray that your God looks after each and everyone of you.
It's not my thanksgiving here in Canada but I too am thankful for a lot of things. Mainly for having God in my life. Nothing is possible without him. I'm thankful for having my loved ones, and for hubby being able to come home for two whole months. I'm grateful for all the things I have to make my life easier. I know some have so little. I'd like to wish everyone a wonderful, happy and safe thanksgiving!
