Quebec Beef Pie

1/2 lb. ground beef                1/2 lb. beef (or pork) sausage

3/4 tsp. salt

1/4 tsp each of allspice, cloves, cinnamon and nutmeg

2 medium potatoes, peeled and chopped

1 small onion, finely chopped

2 pie crusts (9-inch size)


Cook beef and sausage over medium-low heat until beef loses it's redness. Blend in salt and spices. Cook potatoes and onions in water in small saucepan unti tender; drain, reserving liquid. Mash potatoes and onion, adding enough of the liquid for desired consistence. Add to meat in skillet and mix well. Turn into pastry-lined pie plate. Cover with remaining crust, cutting vents in top crust and sealing edges well. Bake in 425 degree oven for 30 minutes. Cool; cover and place in refrigerator. Reheat in 350 degree oven for 45 minutes to 1 hour.
